A few minutes later, four men came out of the elevator. No badges. Without a gun. Silent authority. The tallest man looked around the hallway, staring at the police dog. He stopped.
“Where is she?”
"Zone closed..." the surgeon replied.
“We know,” the man said. “Nurse. The one who talked to the dog.”
Ava was standing there, half in the shade, like she was drawing a map.
The man froze for a moment, and then he saluted.
Ava reciprocated the gesture.
“Commander,” he said. “I didn’t know you were still alive.”
"Most of the world didn't know either," Ava replied.
In the doctor's office, the dog waited outside.
“You have been declared dead. Operation in the Persian Gulf. Night ambush. The unit completely destroyed.”
“I know. I was there.” “The code you used has not been used for decades.” "It was the command to return," Ava said. “He tells the dog that his guide is safe.”
It's been hours. It's dawn. The routine came back, but the tension remained.
Then a man appeared in a dark coat – the Observer.
“You made a mistake. The dog reacted to the dead signal. A nurse who knew too much.”
“I saved my life,” she said.
"You've put yourself in danger," he said.
The police dog growled quietly and guarded the SEAL when he woke up. Ava whispered calmly.
SEAL looked at her. “Ava,” the ohryple said.
There was silence in the hallway. “You’re safe,” Ava said. “Stand still.”
“You’re back,” he said.
“No,” she whispered. “You’re back.”
The dog came closer and growled at the intruder. Ava understood this with icy clarity: six forgotten words revealed a hidden story.
